David Beattie's New Public Artwork for Griffith Barracks Multi-Denominational School
David Beattie’s new work Patterns of Illumination has just been opened at Griffith Barracks Multi-Denominational School. This project was curated by Aisling Prior and commissioned by the school, the Board of Management, the school Arts Committee and the Office of Public Works.
Patterns of Illumination
In the GP hall and top corridor of the school, specially designed glass panels were installed onto the south and west facing windows. These framed panels will project rainbow spectrums inside the hall and top corridor. They will be visible in direct sunshine at various times of the day, changing shape and pattern in relation to the seasons and angle of the sun. Much like other solar alignments, it attempts to grasp a moment in time through a temporary sculptural event.
